HOW MANY CALORIES CAN I BURN DURING A ZUMBAÂ CLASS?
Good question. That depends on you and how much you move. It can be anywhere between 300-600 calories, but we have had people saying that they burned up to 750/800 calories. Smiling and having fun always burns more calories 😊
DO I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO DANCE?
Not at all. My classes have easy to follow steps that are designed to make moving enjoyable. Fun is the main thing and moving safely is the other. I always breakdown any new routines that need a little more time. And we use a visual cueing system, so that you can see what’s coming up next.
CAN I STILL DO THE CLASS WITH A HEALTH CONDITION?
Yes, you can, but you will be asked to complete a health questionnaire before the class, and it would be great to give as much detail as you can about any health conditions or injuries. You know your health condition or injury best, and advice would always be to take it easy at first. And always tell me if you have any new injuries or health conditions. If you are pregnant, please ensure you have permission from your doctor before commencing any fitness program and enter this on your health questionnaire. I will need to speak to you before a class so I can advise and help you to modify the moves to suit you
I HAVE A DISABILITY – CAN I ATTEND A ZUMBA CLASS?
If you are mobile and have permission from your doctor then normally yes. Please contact me if you would like to discuss this in more detail. If you have any questions.
WHAT SHOULD I BRING AND WEAR?
Bring water, a small gym towel and a smile. Wear lightweight, breathable clothing such as leggings, joggers, t-shirts and vests and sweaters. If you can, wear a sports bra. The best footwear is a lightweight trainer with some cushioning support and minimal tread on the sole, some trainers even have a turning spot on the ball of the foot, which helps you turn twist and move without straining your joints. Barefoot is not allowed, due to health and safety issues.
SHOULD I EAT BEFORE A CLASS?
Eating for any fitness class is essential. Depending on your diet, eat what is best for you throughout the day. And if you can, eat a couple of hours before a Zumba class. You need energy for moving your body.
I'M NOT VERY FIT, CAN I STILL TAKE PART?
Yes. Just take it easy to start with, build up your ability and you will see your fitness improve (see the testimonials section for inspiration)
